HexDump32 1.0.0
Publisher's Description:
HexDump32 - HexDump32 is a small Win32 utility which opens up a file and displays its data in hexadecimal and ASCII format.
Note: HexDump32 is not an editor. The binary contents of files can be viewed but not modified.
The dump has the segment offset on the left, hex values in the center, and ASCII interpretation on the right. Characters which are not readily displayable (outside of ASCII 32 - 126) are displayed in the ASCII representation at the right of the dump display as the dot character.

comparing hexdump32 to other utilities
I was originally searching for a shareware hexdump utility to replace a dated version of gander.exe I used. My need is generally to either look for crlf's in text files or to try determine the content of binary files such as archives. Basic recognition of just that would be an advantage as well as the ability to search intelligently.
Limited in functionality, it did display the text and resolve my issue. In the end I found the hex dump and edit function of the shareware programmers pspad did what I needed very well.

Review of HexDump32
This does exactly what it claims to do. Unfortunately when I tried it I realized that I needed an ascii search capability to locate the strings of interest.

So far doing what I need, i.e., a quick spot check of binary files. Given Windows GUI, would be nice to remember folder accessed last time for "opens". Also seemed a bit slow on opening and displaying a 1.5 MB file.

Useful but lacking
It would be nice if the filename were in the program title bar. It would also be nice if some format configuration were possible. I didn't have access to my own hex dumper that has these features so I needed something to get me by. This did the trick. The biggest frustration was remembering what I had dumped because nothing shows the filename.

Suggested improvements
Hi,
The following suggestions might make HexDump more useful.
1. Show the name of the file being edited in the title bar.
2. A search facility would be nice.
Overall, a good little program.
I use programs like this to examine files which I think they are corrupted. Yesterday I needed to examine a binary file to check that it contained valid data.

HexDump32 Review
I used it only briefly but seemed to work ok. I used it to verify parsing programme output.

Just What I Needed!
All I was looking for was a simple, easy to use hex dump utility. HexDump32 was exactly what I was looking for! The installation was effortless, the program behaved exactly as expected and allowed me to compare binary files.
In this case, my task was to determine what was wrong with .WAV files I was writing programmatically with others. HexDump32 let me do just that and showed me exactly where the problems were with my output. My .WAV files play perfectly now - thanks, in part, to HexDump32

Free hexdump32
This program was needed to look at one file to try to find a problem. It worked very well for what I wanted (Problem not solved) but the information I got added to the data on the problem but was no help in the solution. Thanks anyway.
As for your program, I saw the file information exactly as I expected to see it and I did not have to try and figure out what I was looking at. I had no problems invoking the program. First try - expected results. What more could anyone ask for?

Need to see ascii characters in file
Used the program to view an ascii dump of a file that was giving us problems. Worked great to show us the hidden characters in the file.

Useful tool
dumping hex is such a basic utility, but it was nice to have it available. My only comment is that there was no way to write output to a file. Instead I just selected all the output text, the copy/pasted to a file.

Works!!
I did not need to use it for any major project. Simply needed to find one offending character in a file. I could not copy and paste the dumped output into a text editor to find it. That was my only short term disappointment. It works great otherwise.
Thanks

Hex Dump
The banner needs to show the file being dumped. Reloading the software needs to return to the working directory. A help page showing what the Hex Code represents under normal circumstances, i.e., Carriage Return, Line Feed, End of File, etc. I really needed to find the offending hex code and replace it, in this case an end of file code buried within a raw file. This was excellent as a free tool.

Very basic
Good if you just need to have a look at the content.

Nice Little Routine
HexDump32 is a simple routine that displays the binary and ASCII information of files. It allowd me to check header information of some propietary image files that I could not check in any other way.
A small improvement would be not to default the opening file directory to the place where HexDump32 is stored but to the last directory opened.

Simple, but effective
A helpful utility, similar to DUMP (VMS) and hexdump (UNIX/Linux). It does the job without a lot of frills or unnecessary clutter.
