HexDump32 - HexDump32 is a small Win32 utility which opens up a file and displays its data in hexadecimal and ASCII format.
Note: HexDump32 is not an editor. The binary contents of files can be viewed but not modified.
The dump has the segment offset on the left, hex values in the center, and ASCII interpretation on the right. Characters which are not readily displayable (outside of ASCII 32 - 126) are displayed in the ASCII representation at the right of the dump display as the dot character.

I was just looking for a simple hex dump program. This goes way beyond that. Great utility. Every programmer should have a copy.

The program does what is advertised in a nominal manner. The only fault I find with it (and this may well be the fault of Windows 7) is that when the program is opened via the Win7 "Open With" selection from an explorer context menu is that the program opens *under* the explorer window. The first time this happened, I erroneously inferred that the program had failed to open at all.

Would not open a nero disk image file, ( .nrg ). I expected that it would dump anything. I personally prefer a dump in the format:

I failed to load the file that I wanted to examine, possibly because it was too large for hexDump to handle (about 50 MB). I uninstalled the program and found something else on the Internet that can handle very large files.

HexDump32 worked well for me. Basically I used this program to produce hexdump of an encrypted file. It was fast and produced nicely formatted dump.

A handy app with a well organized user interface. Unfortuately it does not handle very large files e.g. 3 GB well.

I am sure its a useful and good tool, but unfortunately I am not expert enough to figure out what to do, I tought i was able to see the encoded tcp ip logs, but really all that didn't make sense to me. Thanks anyway, sooner or later even I am going to get it right.

Thanks for the utility. It comes in handy when I need to see the binary contents of a file too large for DEBUG. It will be better if it has a "FIND" feature that can search for either binary (hex) or ASCII

I wanted to see the header of a 50MB file to see if it looked like the beginning of an AVI file. The ideal thing would have been something like the 'od' Unix command. I tried to load the file into HexDump32, but I got an out of memory condition. So I'll reserve this for smaller files only.

Very good software. It would be nicer if there is a search function. Thanks for the effort.
Zilla13 2009-04-21 10:54:14 #
This app served the purpose I needed. For easier readability, it would be nice if one could select the hex values and have the corresponding ASCII/decimal values highlight, but it's possible to manage without this feature.

Provides a Hex Dump
The install was slow, and seemed to stop at one point - I finally interrupted the process - but the finish page finally came up and the program works. If you are looking at a large file - a search feature would be nice.

This program gets the job done. For my purposes I would have appreciated a few additional bits of functionality:

HexDump is a great tool for checking the content of a file quickly and without fuss. When developing code and working with non-text data, it would be so much more difficult to check the validity of the file content without HexDump on the desktop.

Simple, but effective
A helpful utility, similar to DUMP (VMS) and hexdump (UNIX/Linux). It does the job without a lot of frills or unnecessary clutter.

HexDump32 is a simple routine that displays the binary and ASCII information of files. It allowd me to check header information of some propietary image files that I could not check in any other way.

I did not need to use it for any major project. Simply needed to find one offending character in a file. I could not copy and paste the dumped output into a text editor to find it. That was my only short term disappointment. It works great otherwise.

Delivers as promised
I was able to view the hex I needed to see within a minute of finding this application.
TAM666 2007-10-12 13:57:41 #
dumping hex is such a basic utility, but it was nice to have it available. My only comment is that there was no way to write output to a file. Instead I just selected all the output text, the copy/pasted to a file.

Just What I Needed!
All I was looking for was a simple, easy to use hex dump utility. HexDump32 was exactly what I was looking for! The installation was effortless, the program behaved exactly as expected and allowed me to compare binary files.

Useful but lacking
It would be nice if the filename were in the program title bar. It would also be nice if some format configuration were possible. I didn't have access to my own hex dumper that has these features so I needed something to get me by. This did the trick. The biggest frustration was remembering what I had dumped because nothing shows the filename.
bob the dumper 2006-12-14 11:33:40 #
So far doing what I need, i.e., a quick spot check of binary files. Given Windows GUI, would be nice to remember folder accessed last time for "opens". Also seemed a bit slow on opening and displaying a 1.5 MB file.

Review of HexDump32
This does exactly what it claims to do. Unfortunately when I tried it I realized that I needed an ascii search capability to locate the strings of interest.

comparing hexdump32 to other utilities
I was originally searching for a shareware hexdump utility to replace a dated version of gander.exe I used. My need is generally to either look for crlf's in text files or to try determine the content of binary files such as archives. Basic recognition of just that would be an advantage as well as the ability to search intelligently.
